On the one hand, there is a reality as the result of the dominant ideology, which has become a priori in many cases, and which has hidden that there is another reality (or possibly, multiple realities). As such, the book does not have a conventional structure or plot arc. This seems relevant to Momadays strange choice to emphasize the disappearance of the buffalo as the signifier of Kiowa decline instead of explicitly blaming the white settlers who killed all the buffalo and attempted to eradicate Kiowa culture. The Way to Rainy Mountain (1969) is a unique book, which pieces together three separate narrative voices in order to preserve the history of the Kiowa Native Americans.
